Up-dated with information about a service of thanksgiving for Andrea:
There will be a service of thanksgiving for Andrea on Monday 26 July at 2.45 pm at Fartown Methodist Church. (Huddersfield Philharmonic members will know the location as our alternative rehearsal rooms.) Stuart Sandys will formally represent the Philharmonic but anyone who wishes to attend will be most welcome. We understand that Huddersfield Choral Society will be singing as their own contribution to the thanksgiving, Andrea having played such a significant part in their organisation. Given that Andrea contributed to the life of the Phil in many ways, it would be good to see us well represented too.
Original announcement:
It is with great sadness that I report the death this morning of Andrea Crawshaw of the Huddersfield Choral Society, a long-time supporter of Huddersfield Philharmonic Orchestra and in recent years a stalwart tea and coffee maker for us at rehearsals. Andrea had been unwell for some time and, following treatment, had gone into the hospice to recuperate with the aim of returning home. Unfortunately this was not to be.
Andrea will be missed especially by former members Jean Parker and Sheila Garside, but certainly by all who knew her both through membership of the Choral or by her association with the Philharmonic.
I will pass on news of funeral arrangements as I become aware of them.
